Oak Orchard River Fishing for Salmon Waterport Dam October 5, 2021 The rain thru the end of the past weekend was not enough to cause any great change in trib flows. (Highly recommended!) That could push more fish into the river plume and into the channel. After that for end of week and weekend, the forecast is back to cold temps and another round of measurable snow. No serious cold snap is seen in the near term forecast. Look for some hook-ups by covering that different water and putting in a few hours. There seems to be a stalemate between the open Lake temps and the trib water temps thanks to the relatively mild winter. Upstream action so far mainly for a few fish at the dam. Small boat civilian trollers can now launch at the open NYS launch on the west side of the rivermouth! Theres been some water level fluctuations thanks to hydro power operations already and look for that to continue with almost daily fluctuations expected due to leaf fall or windy conditions. And then theres always that concentration of fish and people at the dam. Flows in the Oak are high and stained with about 1 foot of visibility. to the leaders in the 1st leg of the King of the Oak Series the Condor Memorial as well as the winning teams from the feature tournament . Upstate and Western New York Fishing Report - November 18, 2021 Drying out weather could lead to lower medium ish or wetter weather could lead to higher/dirtier. Careful and hardy drifters have hooked up on some bright steelhead. In addition to seasonal factors, daily water levels are affected by heavy leaf fall. The recent changing winds, lightning and storms are not good for fishing but things did become more stable. Theres probably still some old Orleans Outdoor content out there on the web and Goggle.

The forecast after the warmup for the end of week/beginning part of the weekend is back to cold temps with snow on the backside of the rain so the up and down, 2 3 day cycle will continue. Since then, the Douglaston Salmon Run has reported salmon entering the river on a consistent basis.
